First, I’d like you to know what mining is in blockchain.
Have you heard of Yanni?
You could Google his name and see how beautiful his musical performances are.
Now compare his rendition with that of a pianist playing alone or a violinist playing alone.
That’ll give you an idea of the differences between Solo Mining and Pool Mining.
The Differences
- Solo mining involves an individual while Pool Mining is done by a group, more than one person.
- In Solo Mining, more time is spent to discover a block when compared with Pool Mining due to the capacity of the systems involved.
- For Solo Mining, the single miner earns all the reward from the discovery of a block while in the Pool Mining, the individual miners share the reward form the process.
- And off course, Solo Mining is less expensive than Pool Mining.
There’s a pool manager or pool operator that manages the system for the group in Pool Mining but that is absent in Solo Mining.
